Winnipeg weather is crazy...

Well, I need to find some kind of way to incorporate posting to this blog as part of my daily/weekly routine. I thought I would have been able to stick to my plan of blogging here frequently, but, that just hasn't happened... at all...

One of the hardest things I've always found when photographing Winnipeg is trying to find a new look and angle of the city. With it being a smaller place, with so many excellent photographers, naturally it is difficult to find that unique perspective or style, and I have always hated doing the same thing as other people! I saw a quote that sums that feeling up the other day actually,

"Photography is the easiest medium with which to be merely competent. Almost anybody can be competent. It's the hardest medium in which to have some sort of personal vision and to have a signature style" - Chuck Close

Over the last few months I've "developed" a mental list to try to help me push myself and my eye by limiting myself in different ways. I have a set of certain things I WONT do because I feel like they are played out, and too easy. Along with that set of things I will limit myself mechanically with my camera by only shooting within certain parameters , and I feel like it is definitely helping me to progress. Slowly but surely.

Anyway, this has been the longest blog post yet, so, I'll stop there. Here are some photos from mid March to mid May. The weather was weird, and continues to be inconsistent... so, there is some fog, some snow, some sunsets and some rain. As always, I'll TRY to keep this updated although I'm basically the only one that looks at it.
