If I don’t have a plan or any idea of where I should go shoot, often I’ll just pick at random a “landmark” kind of spot and then just walk from there. I’m talking about basically just anywhere that is a recognizably Winnipeg, so spots like the Legislative Building, Exchange District, The Forks (bridge/museum), Portage & Main, ect.
The good thing about parking at these spots are that they will be the bookends of my walk, I’ll start there, and I’ll have to finish there. In this case I started near the Arlington Bridge. When I first got to the bridge, there wasn’t anything too exciting, just a lot of the same thing that I had seen, I couldn’t find anything different to do at the time, so I just started on my walk. I walked around for a few hours, and then when I was tired, over it, hungry, whatever the reason was, I decided I would head home.
It can sometimes be annoying if you get too far away from your starting point, as it’s a long way back... and that was what happened this night. The good thing about it in this case though is that I got there just in time for this ridiculous sunset. If I hadn’t started here, or if I took my car, the likelihood I would have even been out walking still when this happened would have been slim!
*** shout out to the 4-5 people who joined in on that Lightroom editing live stream yesterday, appreciated the help with getting everything figured out! 🙏***
