A longer read, appreciate if you do, completely understand if you don't or unfollow, feel free. Today is the day two years ago that I said I was going to stop hating on the city I'm from, and start making an effort to use that energy to find a different, and more positive perspective on my hometown... while trying to learn and improve on something I already loved, photography. I can tell you as of today I've accomplished one of those things, which is finding an appreciation for my city. I figured now would be a good time to just re-set this Instagram thing with my favourite shots (maybe 12-15 over the next 2 weeks) of Winnipeg from over that period, before I try to get my shit together and get out to shoot a bunch of new stuff around here before/as it snows and try to accomplish my other goal.

They will be the same boring ass shots you've probably already seen before that I'm always taking of the city, and that I've already posted obviously, just with a slightly different take on the edit as I've learned some different things over this time in post as well. I'm thinking maybe as a way to get motivated to get out shooting again is to talk about photography a little... so I think I'll try to explain my thought process in the captions, as well as just any insight I can give to the photo that I can remember. I'll also try to include some of the things I learned about Winnipeg and what has shifted my mentality as well. Hopefully that helps me critique myself, see things I should have done better or different, motivate me to get out hard again, and maybe it might help someone else at the same time, although I think most of y'all are probably better at this photography thing than I am 🍻

I promise you, before I started doing this little project for myself, I may have been the biggest Winnipeg hater there was (and there's a lot of em') but over this last 24 months I've grown to appreciate the city for what it is, and for what it isn't... and I've been able to see it in a completely different light, so shout out Winnipeg for being dope. Let em' hate far away or let em' hate up close. ❤️✌️
